As the grid system become more complex, the number of power plants, substations are gradually increased, the real-time monitoring of safe and stable operation of power grid is of great significance. In this paper, it combines the self-determined new type of Synchronized Phasor Measurement Unit(SPMU) with the self-developed online Optimal Power Flow(OPF) calculation software, studying the optimization of active network loss in WAMS.The new type of SPMU can acquire active power, reactive power, voltage amplitude and phase angle data information in a real-time way. Then, these data are uploaded to the Digital Signal Processor(DSP). In the DSP, it filters the data, then, those data will be transmitted to database(SQL Servers) in the Personal Computer(PC). In the self-developed online optimal power flow calculation program, it calls and iteratively analyzes data, which store in the database. Those data can be displayed in any user clients.The self-determined new SPMU is based on GPS synchronization pulse signal. Its core is DSP2812 module, which can identify and stably receive specific second pulse signal that send by GPS. Moreover, the SPMU has the ability of fast temporal separation and the characteristic of high speed and high precision acquisition.The self-developed optimal power flow calculation program is based on the VS2008.net software platform. The mathematical module is to calculate and optimize all kinds of data information in power flow via an interior point method. It concludes a variety of database interface. Besides, it can adapt to the distributed database and store data of the multi-modes of power systems. A single computing time is less than 2s, iterative precision can be adjustable, generally is 10-6. Also, the calculation can be opertated by many people simultaneously.After combining the SPMU with the OPF program, it will be applied to the data analysis and computing in the power network dispatch system, providing reliable reference data for operators, finally, to realize the aim of optimizing power flow and reducing the network loss.
