Increasing capacity of hydro unit is main developing direction of hydrogenerator which could save engineering investment, increase unit efficiency anddecrease operation cost. With the increasing of its capacity, the structure of hydrogenerator is becoming more complicated. Figuring out proper solutions togenerator air cooling problem will directly affect the reliability and stability ofgenerator. This paper takes700MW hydro generator of right bank of Three GorgesDam as an example, build a stator&rotor3D fluid field model concerningventilation system of this generator, solve fluid field governing equation by finiteelement method considering rotation effect of rotor, research the flow tendencyof fluid between rotor magnetic poles on different axial sections and fluiddistribution inside stator axial ventilating duct, and then discuss how changing ofthe width of air gap affects the fluid of generator ventilation system. After the discussion above, a stator3D temperature field model is built, andthe speed of fluid on the inner surface of stator axial ventilating duct is figuredout by the calculation of fluid field, and set surface heat extraction coefficient. Then figure out stator temperature field by3D isoparametric element andanalysis high temperature area. Finally, compare calculation with actualmeasurement to testify the reliability of this kind of research method.Guide wind belt inside of rotor yoke ventilating duct is considered to existto make the research more practical. The function and effect to generatoroperation of guide wind belt is analyzed. As concerning rotation effect of rotor, under the condition of with and without guide wind belt, compare the difference between fluid field and temperature field inside the generator, then make relevantconclusion, to provide the basic theory for solving practical engineering problem.
