Hydrostatic thrust bearing with multi-oil-pads is widely used because of itsbearing capacity, reliable operation, low friction and high stiffness, with thedevelopment of industry and process of technology, hydrostatic thrust bearing withmulti-oil-pads needs to be improved, its working life and reliability becomes moreimportant. So aiming at these questions on temperature rise and oil film rapturewhich directly affected life and reliable operation of bearing when working at a highspeed, we do some numerical simulations about temperature field and pressure fieldof hydrostatic thrust bearing with multi-oil-pads, and propose some complimentarystructure design criterions, furthermore, this work could improve operation efficiencyand working life.Taking heavy10m NC vertical lathe of Qiqihar Heavy CNC Equipment CO.LTD as research object, we mainly make research on the influence of oil-returngroove structure parameters on temperature field and pressure field of hydrostaticthrust bearing under variable viscosity. Based on fluid mechanics, lubrication theoryand hydrostatic technology, we build mathematical model of gap oil film ofhydrostatic thrust bearing with multi-oil-pads. Adopting finite volume method, webuild physical model of hydrostatic thrust bearing with multi-oil-pads usingUnigraphics NX4. Structured grids of oil film are generated using universal finiteanalysis software ICEM CFD, and firstly internal fluid field of hydrostatic bearingwith multi-oil-pads and that with multi-oil-cavities are simulated by using CFX, wemainly discuss the influence of oil-return groove through analyzing the differencebetween the two hydrostatic thrust bearings under various viscosity. Then forhydrostatic bearing with multi-oil-pads, we make numerical simulation oftemperature field and pressure field under various viscosity, revealing the influence law of oil-return groove width changes on temperature field and pressure field ofhydrostatic thrust bearing with multi-oil-pads under variable viscosity at6r/min and20r/min. In the same way, keeping oil-return groove width15mm and otherconditions identical, we simulate the influence law of oil-return groove depthchanges on temperature field and pressure field of hydrostatic thrust bearing withmulti-oil-pads. In the end we get the influence of oil-return grove structureparameters on temperature field and pressure field of hydrostatic thrust bearing undervariable viscosity according to analysis of numerical simulation results.By analyzing numerical simulation results, this paper verifies that internal fluidfield distribution of hydrostatic bearing with multi-oil-pads and reveals that effect ofthe design of oil-return groove for hydrostatic bearing. Besides, for hydrostaticbearing with multi-oil pads, we study influence law of the depth and width ofoil-return groove on temperature field and pressure field of hydrostatic bearing withmulti-oil pads, which improves structure design and lubrication capacity ofhydrostatic bearing, increase working life and operation efficiency, and makesignificance for design, simulation analysis and performance analysis of hydrostaticthrust bearing.
