High-pressure water jet incremental sheet metal forming is a new technology that iscombined with computer, CNC, plastic forming, and high-pressure water jet technologies. It isalso a flexible and digital manufacturing technology.The theory of sheet metal forming and high-pressure water jet sheet metal formingtechnologies was researched, and the parameters of high-pressure water jet incremental sheetmetal forming were analyzed. The forming process of vertical wall cylindrical parts byhigh-pressure water jet incremental forming was simulated with the finite element simulationsoftware ANSYS/LS-DYNA. According to analyzing the different simulation effect of usingdifferent forming parameters, the appropriate forming parameters and path were obtained, andthe ideal forming path of vertical wall cylindrical parts by the method of high-pressure waterjet incremental forming was researched and optimized. These laid the foundation of theforming experiment further.The difficulty and limitation of vertical wall sheet metal part forming were analyzed, anda new method was researched, the result shows that the solution by regulating the contactangle between sheet metal and water jet is practicable. The equipment that was used in theforming experiment was researched,the system and the theory of experiment equipment werestudied,two kinds of cylindrical die were designed,one method of modifying the water jetforming experiment system was proposed,and the future developments and applications ofthe technology were prospected.
