Electricity is an important assurance of the rapid and healthy development of national economy. Although the world economy has completed the development and transition from electrification to informatization, the power supply is the basis to ensure energy power for the mechanical and informatization facility. Therefore the quality of electricity production, transmission and use has become an important index for measuring a country’s industrial information. Due to the dispersion on the distribution of resources, a wide range and long-distance transmission of the power resources must be completed. And the energy loss in the transmission process often occupy a large share, so for realizing energy saving and consumption reducing, high voltage transmission network was established. but it is more important to reduce the loss of all electrical equipment in the power transmission process to improve the power efficiency. High impedance controllable reactor is an important equipment in power system, it has an important theoretical and practical significance to study the loss calculation and efficiency. With the power system capacity gradually increasing, which corresponds to the high-impedance reactor capacity is gradually increasing. The capacity increasing will inevitably bring about the equipment size increasing, current load improving, magnetic flux leakage of apparatus being more serious and additional losses increasing. the loss increases, on the one hand, will lead to reducing equipment efficiency, the loss will be reflected in the form of heat in the device components. This will bring the equipment safety hazards; reduce the service life of equipment. In this paper, the eddy current loss of the high-impedance controlled reactor was calculated.Due to the controllable reactor structure is complex and asymmetric, if it is equivalently analyzed by two-dimensional field, will cause great error. Therefore, scale model of a prototype was presented in this paper, the loss of three-dimensional eddy current field of the prototype was analyzed and calculated. The principle and method of a three-dimensional eddy current field calculation was introduced, and the prototype model was analyzed by electromagnetic finite element analysis software ANSOFT, the effects of model leakage magnetic field on the eddy current loss were mainly analyzed. According to the results, effects of leakage magnetic field on the high-impedance controlled reactor additional loss and local heat were summary analyzed. In view of the existing problem of the structure of high impedance reactor, A method of inhibiting reactor internal loss and temperature rise in the main structural components was put forward. Design rules of magnetic shielding and electrical shielding was presented. The effect of the inhibit loss in different electrical shielding size and magnetic shielding dimensions used in the tank wall was simulation analyzed, which also includes the impact of different shielding position on the loss and temperature rise.
