Design And Implementation Of Vehicle Licence Plate Recognition Based On DM642

Intelligent transportation system is increasingly playing a significant role in the social life.The license plate recognition system has attracted a growing attention as an integral part of intelligent transportation system, and plays an important role in public security and traffic, toll station systems, security systems, as well as illegal detection. The digital signal processor (DSP) has the advantages of low power consumption, small size, real-time,and DSP-based embedded applications has become one of the hot. However, the technology which is based on the the DSP license plate recognition has be yet immature.High recognition rate and high real-time nature of the license plate recognition are problems that need to be solved in the intelligent transportation system.This paper design a license plate recognition system based on TMS320DM642. It uses the integrated optical lens and the OV7670CMOS image sensor of miniature camera to produce the video data. Then it completes video capture and image format conversion; the system can realize character recognition and real-time transmission of images collected, porting and optimization of license plate recognition algorithm; It also designs the user interface of the host computer to support the host computer to send control commands and identify the results of transmission,which enables the user to visually see the recognition results as well as real-time transmission of images.After the experimental test, the system is easy to use and meet the actual demand.It can effectively recognize license plate recognition,and effectively enhance the processing performance by algorithm optimization,,.At last, the system is qualified with its good value and the prospect of application in the intelligent transportation system.
