With the rapid development of economy, the number and the size of construction projects are increasing. Construction project is charactered with complexity, long construction period and many participants involved in. and a large amount of unstructured information are produced throughout the whole lifecycle of construction project, and most of them are text information. How to manage the large number of information effectively has become a popular research inconstruction domain. Building information modeling (BIM) has become the mainstream ideology of construction industry in recent years, and can integrate all project information throughout the whole lifecycle. So, this paper proposes the integration of text information and BIM. However, due to the characteristics of high dimension and various formats of unstructured information, it is inefficient to store and manage such data.Therefore text mining technology is adopted in this paper to transform the unstructured text information to structured information, and then associate the information with object entities in BIM to realize the integration of text information and BIM in order to improve the efficiency of construction project information management.The research of BIM-based construction domain text information management can improve the efficiency and quality of project management to a large extent. This paper conducts research as follows:Firstly, this paper introduces the concept of BIM. summarizes the difference between BIM and CAD. and elaborates that the BIM can integrate all information throughout the whole lifecycle of construction project.The BIM data is stored with IFC standard in order to improve the efficiency of data sharing and exchange, so this paper introduces the IFC information expression-EXPRESS language, as well as the IFC information acquisition method and the tool software for IFC information browsing.Secondly,the characteristics of text information in the construction domain, the problems of traditional text information management system and the application of BIM in AEC/FM (Architecture Engineering Construction/Facility Management) are introduced in detail, then the integration of BIM and text information systemis proposed to achieve efficient information management.Thirdly, the realization platform of BIM-Autodesk Revit and text mining technology are introduced. Vector space model (VSM) is proposed to classify text infonnation. and support vector machine (SVM) and cosine formulaare adopted for text information similarity analysis in order to realize information retrieval and ranking.Finally, BIM-based construction domain text information management system is constructed, and five modules as well as eight functions of the system are elaborated. Specific steps to implement the system are described in detail from five phases, i.e., project text preparation phase,project model preparation phase, text classification phase, retrieval and ranking phase, integration of text information and BIM phase. At last,contract text is used as example to validate the proposed methodology.
