With the development of modern social and economics, all walks of life demand more on a dimensional measurement of the objects. Visual measurement based on the principle of machine vision has been employed in various industries because of its advantages such as high-precision, non-contact and real-time. Also it’s application has been limited because of its shortage such as expensive, inconventent to take and sensitive to environment. Focusing on the existed problems, several works are made as followings:1. Based on principle of machine vision, combined with the CCD camera and Angle measuring function of theodolite, the object geometry theodolite measurement system based on single CCD camera and theodolite has been developed.2. Based on grid plate calibration method, combined with the feature of this measuring system structure, an improved camera calibration method is proposed, which can calculate the external relation matrix of camera system between two measurements quickly and simply.3. Based on local testing with removing some false corners rather than time consuming global testing, the traditional Harris corner extraction algorithm is improved.4. Measurement system software platform is developed. The platform features functions such as automatic camera calibration, image processing and mathematical model setting up.
