Evaluation of ecological protection to river bank correlates the research on mechanism of ecological protection to river bank with using the technology at producing practice. Building up an evaluation system of ecological protection to river bank is necessary for protecting the health of river ecosystem, improving river ecosystem service and achieving the sustainable development of river ecosystem.In this research, through investigating and summarizing various types of ecological protection to river bank, an evaluation system of ecological protection to river bank was built up which referring to the achievements of researchers in that field. In the future, it could provide theory supports to the ecological restoration of Yongding River when applying such evaluation system to choose appropriate measures.An evaluation system of ecological protection to river bank was introduced depending on integrated field investigation, information collection, and data analysis. Considering the practical situation of Yongding River, the evaluation system was revised following the principles of choosing scientific, objective, systematic and practical evaluating indexes. Based on the effects of engineering, ecology, society and economy, the evaluating indexes have cut down from twenty-eight to nine. Each index could comprehensive reflect the characteristic of ecological protection measures to river bank, such as stability of engineering, ecological suitability, and economic application. Therefore, it is conveniently to evaluating and practical applying, and then establishing the appropriate evaluation system of ecological protection to Yongding River.In this research, considering the investigation and summary of the practical situation of Yongding River, eleven ecological protection technologies were selected and applied to ecological restoration demonstrating projects in Yongding River. Halfa year later, the eleven ecological protection technologies would be investigated and then commented by the evaluation system of ecological protection to river bank. The results of evaluating have shown that the protection techniques of pine wood cutting of willow, stone cage with geotextile bag, cutting of willow into stone with geotextile bag and artificial timber pile got higher score. They were suited for promoting to protecting river bank. It was not appropriate for applying the measures of gravel and SG ecological brick, as they got relative lower score. Several ecological protection measures which would be suit for Yongding River were selected through establishing an evaluation system of ecological protection to river bank and comprehensive evaluating eleven ecological protection technologies. Analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of each measure, several ecological protection patterns were introduced in order to provide reference to ecological restoration in Yongding River.
