Infilled frame is widely used in all kinds of office building, school, hospital, shopping mall and other buildings because of the advantages of its flexible spatial segmentation, large interior space and light weight,. As a non-structural member in today’s engineering design, infill walls are equivalent to the external loads loading to the frame. In order to consider the contribution of infill walls on the stiffness of the frame, the natural period of vibration should be multiplied by an less than1.0compensation-coefficient which is according to the number and location of the infill walls. Due to the failure to consider Infill walls’own strength, deformation and other factors, as well as the empirical feature of compensation-coefficient on natural period of vibration, there is a great error between the calculated results and actual situation which made the frames been destroyed seriously in the earthquake. There are still a lot of issues to be further researched, although it has been done a lot of research on the infilled frame by many scholars at home and abroad, The main research work in this thesis is summarized as follows:1. The advanced and limitations of the past experimental study and theoretical analysis on infilled frames are compared to determine the calculation models and analytical methods used in this paper.2. Analysis software SAP2000is used to establish the calculation models which are layouted of infill walls irregularity. Dynamic time-history analysis and modal analysis are used on these calculation models by changing the number, location and arrangement mode. Comparative analysis of the calculate results include the maximal floor displacement, most story drift angle and maximal floor shear of these models under the common and seldom earthquake actions, and determining the effect of the frame which is filled by infill walls.3. The results of the modal analysis are used to comparative analysis of the effect of frame natural period of vibration by changing the filling ratio and arrangement mode, and then, suggest a reasonable scope of the compensation-coefficient on natural period of vibration.
