Due to the influence of environmental factors, the problem of durability for reinforced concrete bridges structure is very outstanding and common. Now, there are many measures to improve the durability of reinforced concrete structure. But none of them can solve the problem of steel corrosion fundamentally. As the stainless steel reinforcement was developed successfully, it will be used in the many engineering construction fields, especially bridges in the severe corrosion areas. However, there are few researches on the stainless steel reinforcement, and fewer researches on the bond property of stainless steel reinforcement and the component performance of stainless steel reinforced concrete. Based on lots of experiments, the mechanical properties of stainless steel reinforcement, the bond property between stainless steel reinforcement and concretes and the component performance of stainless steel reinforced concrete were studied in this paper. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) Measures for improving the durability of reinforced concrete structures at home and abroad were summarized systematically, such as using the high performance concrete, increasing the thickness of concrete cover, coating the surface of concrete, using inhibitor of steel in concrete, epoxy coating reinforcements, the measure of cathodic protection, using corrosion-resistant Composite reinforced(for example reinforcing steel bars coated by stainless steel, hot dip zinc rebar,MMFX steel bars), stainless steel reinforcement and so on, and their respective characteristics were analyzed.(2)Through the tensile testing at ambient temperature and the bending test of stainless steel reinforcement and ordinary steel bars, some conclusions on mechanical properties of stainless steel reinforcement were drawn. Percentages elongation after fiacture is larger, Strength is higher and cold bending property is well, but modulus of elasticity is smaller than ordinary steel bars. And their suggested values were advanced.(3)Through the felting test of stainless steel reinforced concrete specimens and ordinary reinforced concrete specimens, we know that the bond property between stainless steel reinforcement and concretes was well, and the suggested calculation formulae for bond force of stainless steel reinforced concrete were advanced.(4)Through the bending test and the shearing test of stainless steel reinforced concrete beams and ordinary reinforced concrete beams, the load characteristic and the failure mode of normal section and oblique section in stainless steel reinforced concrete flexural members were compared and analyzed. The flexural member of stainless steel reinforced concrete obeys the plain section assumption. And the designing method of stainless steel reinforced concrete flexural members was advanced.
