With economic development, scientific and technological progress, high-risebuildings are emerging, many of which are new structural system, the mega-framestructural system is one of the representative structural systems, on the one hand, its uniqueforce characteristics can enhance the integrity and improve seismic performance, on theother hand, it can meet functional requirements on different architectural of vertical layout, and save material and reduce the cost. This architecture has broad application prospects, but the force characteristics are complex and different ordinary frame structures, it isnecessary to study further on mega-frame structure. In this paper, the overview of the development of high-rise building was introducedfirst, with the increasing of requirements on architectural function; the regular structuralarrangement will not be able to meet the functional requirements, and the concept ofmega-frame structure was put forward. Then use the analysis software SAP2000to createmega-frame model, under the conditions of seven degrees fortification and the secondcategory site, Input El-cenreo wave, Taft wave, the Lanzhou wave, the models of fivedifferent main frame beam stiffness ratios and five different main frame column stiffnessratios were conducted modal analysis and time-history analysis, then compare the affectionof two different stiffness ratios change on mega-frame structure seismic performance. Theresults show that on the elastic earthquake, the stiffness change of main frame has a greaterimpact on seismic response of mega-frame; the pillar of main frame is more significant. In the paper, the next layer or even several layers of the frame beam was no sub-framestructure, and it formed a mega-frame structure with a large space called open-mega-frame. The paper uses the open-mega-frame as an example, and then analyzes its seismicresponse in the case of earthquake and rare earthquake, and study the impact of seismicbehavior on presence of large space and failure mechanism on rare earthquake. The resultsshow that it is similar on seismic performance between open-mega-frame and normalmega-frame, sub-structure is not the primary lateral force resisting component, the numberof minor frame on beams and columns reducing appropriately has little effect on thestructure. The formation of large space meets people various needs and also provides a newidea for adding layer of buildings.
