A reinforced concrete mega-frame structure is a new type of structure systems. It has many characteristics and advantages. With the development of the nation economy, the reinforced concrete mega-frame structures will be widely applied. Therefore, it's necessary to study the seismic behavior of the reinforced concrete mega-frame structures.Using the APDL language of ANSYS finite-element program,a three dimensional parametrization finite element model is set up in this paper, The aseismatic performance of the mega-frame structure are discussed in detail including the modal analysis, spectral analysis, and time-history analysis. The results show that the displacement curve of reinforced concrete mega-frame structures is a type of flexure-shear.The stiffness ratio of the major and the minor frames is an important factor which has a obvious influence on the elastic seismic response of the structure. The higher order frequency of the structure has a certain influence on the structure, when it is close to the earthquake wave predominant period,a pseudo-resonance phenomenon may occur. Moreover, the development of plastic region of mega-frame structures is discussed. Generating orders and developing rules of plastic hinges of the structures and distributing of the weaken floors are also analyzed in this paper. While the structure is in plastic state with the increasing of horizontal loads, the coupling beams which are between major-frame and secondary frame will yield first, then the beams and the columns of secondary frame yield. When the number of plastic hinges is enough large in the end of mega-beams so that the structure becomes framework, the structure is in limited state.
