With the rapid construction of Chinese high-speed passenger dedicated line, more and more people are concerned about the safety of the high-speed railway traffic. The steel rail, as an important component of the track, plays the role of train-guiding and bearing, its state is directly related to the traffic safety of the train.Seamless rail is widely used in Chinese high-speed railway track, it can improve the speed and smoothness when the train runs. However, when the temperature changes, the seamless rail in a locked state can not be freely expanded and contracted, which will cause a great internal longitudinal stress and will lead to the track damage if the safety range is exceeded. Therefore it has a major significance to obtain the temperature and longitudinal stress fast and accurately for getting hold of the rail status, ensuring safe running of trains.Distributed wireless sensor network is composed of large numbers of self-organized sensor nodes in the detective area, which can collect, transmit, process object physical information which covering in the detective area. A kind of distributed rail strain and temperature measuring node to measure rail temperature and strain, which uses embedded technology, sensor technology and distributed wireless sensor network to complete the wireless transmission of data, is designed in this paper. Railway workers can monitor and process the large-scale, long-distance rail temperature and longitudinal stress in real-time, as well as warn the rail failure and troubleshooting in time. The node software is often upgraded because of the technology for measuring temperature and stress of the track is immature, and the node software designed is impossible be done in one step. In this paper, remote node upgrade is designed based on the existing distributed sensor network.The main work is as follows:Firstly, aiming at real-time, long-term monitoring the high-speed railway temperature and stress, this node hardware is designed with the power supply unit, communicating unit and sensing unit.Secondly, this node application software is designed in aspect of the overall, data acquisition processing on the basis of the node hardware. What’s more, the node software designs low-power consumption. Thirdly, according to the demand of the node software remotely upgrade, remote node software upgrade program is designed in this paper, and is optimized in aspect of improving the upgrade efficiency and enhancing the reliability.Finally, a series of experiments are carried out in the laboratory and the site of a high-speed rail, the experimental results show that the node is running stable and reliable, and the node can collect the data of rail temperature and strain in real-time and stability, achieves the expected design target.
