Intake tower is mainly used for diversion, flood, etc., which plays a vital role in the whole hydropower station hub. Kara intake tower belongs to the towering structure.Intake tower body forces and seismic features of the tower are very complex under the seismic action, due to the particularity of the tower body structure itself, the coupling effects between the tower body and water, the contact among tower body, foundation and back mountain. Under the working condition of the earthquake, the seismic safety and overall stability check evaluation are related to the normal operation of the whole hub. Therefore, study on the seismic behavior and stability analysis has an important practical significance.Kala intake tower was3d simulated using finite element software Ansys.The foundation adopted elastic massless rigid foundation, and the coupling effect between the tower body and dynamic water was considered in the form of added mass. The natural vibration characteristics, seismic behavior of displacement and stress responsethe,overall anti-sliding stability and anti-overturning stability of Kala intake tower under the condition of the flow and vertical flow earthquake,were analyzed with the methods of vibration mode decomposition response spectrum and time-history method. The Calculation results show that the results of the response spectrum method are slightly larger than those of time-history method. The plastic damage development of the tower body under seismic condition were analysised by using ideal elastic-plastic D-P model, and the calculation results show that only partial intake tower structures enter into the nonlinear state, while most are still in the linear elastic state. According to the specification requirements, the overall anti-sliding stability and anti-overturning stability of Kala intake tower under the condition of the flow and vertical flow earthquake,were analyzed with the method of subentry coefficient method. With the application of structural reliability theory and fuzzy mathematics theory, the calculation of the anti-sliding stability fuzzy reliability was carried out under the earthquake condition, which is also compared with the result of subentry coefficient method. The calculation results show that seismic characteristics of structure, the overall stability against sliding and overturning all meet the specification requirements. Thus the calculation results of this paper can provide some references for the design and operation of intake tower.
