The auto electric power steering (EPS) system is a kind of vehicle steering systemin advanced technology. It has become the focus in the power steering technology’s areaas well in pursuit the high security, the high comfort and the high energy conservationtoday, it has the extensively of application and widely development space.First we discusses the basic working principle and structure of the EPS system,Carried out a detailed analysis of the EPS system torque field especially the steeringresistance. Provides the basis for the EPS test bench development and selection of parts.In order to make the EPS test bench more general This paper introduces the drivermodel, based on the lateral deviation preview driver’s front trajectory model. And then,build a fuzzy control model in MATLAB/simulink, as a follow-up simulation input.A detailed study of EPS system from perspective of assist characteristic and that ofcontrol strategies was carried out, and a decision-making strategy of motor’s targetcurrent on the basis of fuzzy control was worked out. It produces the assistcharacteristic curves at different velocity and torque input of steering wheel. For thebooster motor current control designed adaptive fuzzy PID controller.Finally, we introduce the EPS test bench design program, then the EPS systemmodel、the driver input motor model and the resistance load model were established inMATLAB/simulink module. Simulation based on this established models, the resultsshow that: The driver input motor and the resistance load motor that take the PIDcontrol response well, the current controller have good performance at both responsespeed and following characteristics. Consolidated of three joint motor simulation toachieve the desired results, verify the feasibility of the test bench program.
