In the market economy system, government regulation to the scheduled bus transport is gradually relaxed. The ticket fares of scheduled bus should float in a certain range. The enterprises have more pricing power. In recent years, some scheduled bus passenger transport enterprises began to try various marketing means to raise revenue, but the effect is not obvious. This is mainly because of the decision process mainly relies on the subjective experience, lack of management methods and the basis of scientific theory. Applying revenue management which was widely used in airline to the field of scheduled bus transport is put forward in this paper. Optimizing the allocation of resources and guiding the demand so as to improve the passenger transport enterprises income without the operating costs and the burden of passengers increasing. This has a certain theoretical and practical significance to perfect the pricing strategy and seat inventory control in scheduled bus transport.Firstly it expounds the basic principle and application situation of revenue management, analyses the applicable condition of revenue management. Then it points out the existing problems of application based on the analysis of the market situation and characteristics of scheduled bus transport. The price is relatively single only according to the scheduled bus models. The fare floating rate is judged only by subjective experience, which can not adapt to the objective economic condition. The seat inventory is not linked with the fare, which can not reflect the changes in the market.Then it analyzes the application feasibility from macroscopic, microscopic and the scheduled bus transport market. The scheduled bus transport has fundamental had a basis for the application of revenue management. Suitable revenue management method can be applied to the scheduled bus transport area with its own characteristics. Then it analyzes the applicability of the revenue management method in the scheduled bus transport area based on a comparison of the differences between the scheduled bus transport and airline passenger transport, which focuses on the price control and seat inventory control.Chapter4is about pricing strategy, the paper firstly discusses the meaning of scheduled bus transport implement differential pricing strategy, then analysis the superiority of the differential pricing strategy from the economics and market principle point of view, at last discusses the applicable differential pricing strategy to scheduled bus transport. In chapter5, the paper mainly discusses the seat inventory control for scheduled bus transport. At first, it analyses the seat inventory control model and control strategy of airline. According to the characteristics of scheduled bus transport, it establishes a bus seat inventory control model base on airline seat inventory control model. Then a control strategy is proposed, which divides the bus ticket sales period into various sales stages according to the fare classes, then sets the virtual buckets, makes the same fare class products belonging to the same virtual level, and confirm the booking limits for each virtual classes, then uses the opportunity cost adjust the fare classes of network nested. Finally, it designs an algorithm base on this control strategy and through an example shows the effectiveness of the model and algorithm.
