The wholesale market of agricultural products is an important building form of commodity circulation areas, is one of the major commercial building types. However, judging from the current market development, the speed and quality of hardware facilities construction in China’s agricultural market is far lagging behind the growth rate of the agricultural product wholesale markets, many markets only attach importance to the building of trading facilities, while supporting facilities with auxiliary functions are prone to be ignored, which led many market can only meet the primary transactions, greatly restricted the circulation of agricultural products and the development of the agricultural market. In view of this situation, the author takes several large agricultural products wholesale markets in Chengdu region as the research objects, uses theoretical analysis combined with field research methods, discusss the planning and design of supporting facilities in the agricultural product wholesale market from the point of view of architectural design.The main content of this paper is divided into five chapters. Chapter I is the introduction part. First, briefly describes the research background and significance of the paper, review the current research status of domestic and foreign supporting facilities in agricultural products wholesale market; second, through analysis of several key concepts, clarify the particularity of this research topics. Chapter Ⅱ is about theoretical studies relevant to the planning and design of supporting facilities inagricultural products wholesale market, first view all facilities in the market as a system, thereby introducing the concept of system theory; then seize "circulation" characteristics of the various elements in market operation, introduces the circulation economics theory, creatively divide supporting facilities of the market into two categories:business flow system and logistics system supporting facilities; Finally, basing on the design methodology of qualitative design, analyzes the characteristics of agricultural products wholesale market, introduces Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) theory to make exploratory research on the planning and design of supporting facilities in the market with quantitative method.
