With the development of Steel Reinforced Concrete structure in full swing, ConcreteColumns Strengthened by Steel Angles are well popular.This model has square transversecross section and reinforced with steel angles at the corners, at the same time the steel stripsconnecting the steel angles, so this can keep the concrete core increasing not only bearingcapacity but also in ductility of the compressed member. This model has manyadvantages,such as convenient construction、short cycle、good vibration resistance、save theeconomy,etc. however,the study works are not enough about the Square Reinforced concreteColumns, as follows are the research in this paper:1. The experimental research about the Concrete short Column Strengthened by SteelAngles.To study the mechanical performance and failure modes about the Steel anglesReinforced concrete short Columns under the axial and bias compression, eleven columnswere made, which with different eccentricity,batten plate spacing and the strength of theconcrete, and were experimented. And the test gives the reference about the high-strengthconcrete. Failure process and phenomenons were recorded in the experiment. According tothe load-displacement and the load-strain curves, the Steel angles Reinforced concrete shortColumns were analyzed in working mechanism.The results show that the centric compressionspecimens with good ductility and high bearing capacity, and the effect influenced by theeccentricity is remarkable.2. The theoretical research about the Concrete short Column Strengthened by SteelAngles.According to the simplified steel model and Mander model proposed on confinedconcrete, axial compression and bias formula were regressed and derivated by using the1stopt software. And the results calculated from the formula are in accordance with theexperiment. So that,it is also extensive in the application of Steel-concrete compositestructure.3. The finite element research about the Concrete short Column Strengthened by SteelAngles.At last, Concrete Columns Strengthened by Steel Angles models were created by thefinite element software ANSYS in this paper based on the experimental research, through theoutput figers about the displacement, stress and strain contours and the experiment phenomenon referenced,we can conclude that the finite element are reasonable. And theload-displacement curves calculated from the finite element analysis are in accordance withthe experiment.
