Engineering-rail vehicle usually used in the special railway conditions of recover andrepair, compared to ordinary vehicles,its operating line is of a higher complexity. Under thepremise of speed up and weight loss of the railway vehicle,the bogie frame act as theconnection device and the basis of mount is of high research value.The primary problem is how to shorten the bogie design cycle and reduce productioncosts, during which the safety and reliability of train operation must be ensured. Based on therapid development of computer hardware and software, the structural optimization designis to establish the bogie’s optimization model for the mechanical calculations, finallyachieving a lightweight design. This can weak the dominant personalexperience in the design of traditional experience.After mastering the topology optimization,size optimization theory and the structuralcharacteristics of the bogie frame,the structural optimization design is taken in a factorydesigned engineering-rail vehicle bogie frame’s design by the software Hyperworks.In thisarticle, the computational model determined based on the actual size and boundaryconditions of the framework,then the topology optimization is taken for the initial materialremoval of the3D model of the bogie frame, ultimately two new frameworkmodels of exceptional load and operating conditions are getting.Since the shape and size ofthe framework should meet the shape of the parts and assembly requirements,the model ofoperating conditions doesn’t meet the design demands for canceling the side beam.Therefore using the model of exceptional load conditions,combined with theoriginal model of the framework, two improved models are taken.For both models,the sizeoptimizaiton design is used for further design, the results show that the optimized modelweight loses significantly. Finally the model performance of before and afteroptimization are compared through structural strength as well as fatigue strengthanalysis of various conditions.The improved structure model not only achieves weight loss,but also the results meet theperformance requirements.The optimization of bogie frame is conducted respectively from two-stage of conceptualdesign and detailed design, the results meet the global optimum,it is of reference to theribs layout after optimization.
