The Straddle-Type Monorail bogie frame is a structural component that can togetherthe driving system, basis braking, traction system, collector mounting device, bodysuspension system, steering wheel, the wheel that can walk, stable wheel etc, is one ofthe most important component parts of Straddle-Type Monorail vehicle. It is the mainvehicle carrying parts; its function decided the quality of vehicle safety and operation.The running stability of vehicle and the comfortable of the passengers is affected by thestrength and stiffness of the Frame. In order to make the Straddle-Type Monorailtechnology further promotion and application in our country, we must develop andimprove the technology based on the existing technology introduction, formindependent design ability, extend design the existing vehicle to realize full localization.In this paper, the bogie of Straddle–Type Monorail vehicle in Chongqing NO.3lightrail is researched. For the first time using topology optimization technology for structureimprovement of bogie frame, research was carried out as follows:1)Put forward the idea of improvement of the new bogie frame, and establishedthe CAD model for topology optimization. The finite element was established usinghexahedral grid and divvied into design area and non-design area.2) Against the operational characteristics of Straddle-Type Monorail vehicles,typical loading conditions were determined and selected. The frame topologyoptimization was taken,and the optimization results under typical loading conditionswere received and evaluated.3) Build the CAD model based on the optimized results, and then theall-shell-element finite model of the bogie frame has been built. Carry out the turningbraking conditions finite analysis to obtain the total stress distribution and deformation.Finally, take size optimization based on the bogie frame finite model to receivelightweight model and the frame structure strength and stiffness were gotten.4) The frame structure modal analysis was conducted on, and the frequency andvibration mode of it was obtained.5) According to the finite element analysis results, adjusted the problems existingin the structure, and finally confirmed the improved model of the bogie frame.
