The traditional steam pump, which usually used steam as the power source, is widely used in many industrial and engineering fields such as Boiler Feed-wate、Petroleum Transmission and Mine Drainage. Also, the high pressure and temperature steam has extensive application in engineering and practical production, especially in the food expanding and tobacco production. However, the output pressure of traditional steam supplying device is too low to meet the demand of manufacturing. As a result, it is an urgent demand to design a booster pump which can increase the pressure of high temperature steam.After the spot investigations and reading lots of related papers, it is found that there is few researches on the steam booster pump in china at present, especially the reciprocating booster pump. Based on the structure of reciprocating booster pump whose medium is liquid, this paper try to design new steam booster pump by changing and improving the parameters and structures. The main content of this paper are as follows: Redesigned the structure and parameters of the pump cylinder components, and created 3D model of important parts of cylinder components and its assembly model with the highly integrated CAD/CAM/CAE programme Pro/E; With CFD principle, Imported exhausting valve model which is the key part of cylinder components into Gambit, the preprocessing module of Fluent and created its mesh file. Then imported the mesh files into Fluent, made CFD analysis on the pressure field and velocity field of steam passage in the exhausting valve; Based on the analysis results of steam pressure and velocity, using Finite Analytic Method, and combined with structural module of ANSYS, This paper also analyzed the deformation of exhausting valve, and compared the deformations of new exhausting valve and old exhausting valve.With all analysis and researches, this paper preliminarily designed the cylinder components of the steam booster pump which uses high pressure and temperature steam as its medium, and made CFD and deformed analysis on the exhausting valve. The new structure of exhausting valve was determined. The new steam booster pump would have the follow advantages: large flow, low cost, high temperature resistance and pressure increase greatly. After the new steam booster pump is produced, it will have high practical value for puffing food production, tobacco industries etc.
