Electric power steering system (EPS) is based on the traditional mechanical steering system , According to the torque signals and speed signals which effect on the steering wheel, through the electronic control device in order that the motor can produce corresponding size and direction of auxiliary torque, help the driver to do turn operation and get the best characteristics of the servo steering system. Compared with the Ordinary hydraulic power steering system, it has a distinct advantage in energy saving, environmental protection, compact structure, as well as "road feel".. EPS will become standard in modern cars with the technological advances and cost reductions.This article first set up corresponding vehicle dynamics model in accordance with the road feel and steering sensitivity. Systematically analyze the various parameters which impact on the road sense and steering sensitivity by the simulation system . provide a theoretical foundation for the design of EPS.Recently, the study of EPS at home and abroad is all aimed at the control strategies, but there is no mention the access method of Power characteristic curve. This article has a detailed expiation in theory why it is difficult to obtain Power characteristic curve scientifically Ultimately, it is difficult to obtain scientific and reasonable is result from that it is not accurate to obtain the size of steering torque which changes with the speed. It is also the underlying causes why it is difficult to design the best power characteristic curves. Therefore, all power curve in this article are measure from the prototype vehicle. this article help to establish the simulation model for the Power characteristic curve in order to evaluate the quality of measurement characteristic curve. calculated power steering control which under the different speed of driver by simulation, and hence on a preliminary evaluation of the power characteristic curve. It is further verified by the experiment.On the aspect of evaluation of the vehicle, it is mainly rely on the driver’s subjective evaluation at home, subjective evaluation is dependent on the driver’s steering feel. Turned to the study felt the most important step of the study to the steering feel is to quantify the subjective feeling towards the characteristics of objective indicators, if can clearly affect the shift of the physical feeling of subjective evaluation of the driver , we can forecast the steering performance in the design stage of EPS. However, this area of international research is still at the exploratory stage, l there are a variety of test conditions on EPS steering feel ,Also evaluation covering various aspects of the performance of steering system. the comprehensive evaluation is a complex system engineering. This article is only has a preliminary objective evaluation from the road feel and manipulation for the EPSAfter the initial establishment of an objective evaluation of program, after the investigation of the sensors which suitable for the objective evaluation, the paper has designed a sensor which used as the way test. The design of this sensor can fully meet the needs of measurements of steering wheel torque and angle; also have a great market value.
