Located in the west of Shangqiu city Henan province, Ningling county is37kmaway from Shangqiu city. The geographical position is advantageous. Thetransportation in this city is convenient. And it extends in all directions. There are11townships with a population of600000and a total area of800square kilometers in thiscounty. The county has been awarded as national pollution-free fruit and vegetable tenstrong county and the forestry Ecology County. The county has also been assessed asthe only ‘one high quality production base county’ by Ministry of Agriculture. Tenthousand mu pear orchard ecology scenic landscape located at ShiQiao village of thiscounty. By means of field investigation, visiting farmers, collecting documentliterature, and combination method of statistic and analysis for data, the main early-maturing pear cultivars in the pear orchard were investgated.The fruits hardness andtheir soluble solid content were tested. The fruit appearances were detected. The fruit-set habit, fruit yield, fruit price, cultivation and management mode, and the main plantdiseases etc were aslo investgated.. The purpose of this survey is to provide sometheory for improving the cultivation system to produce high quality and high amountof pear fruits. The main results are as follows:1. The main cultivated pear cultivars are Golden Xieua, Laiyang pear, Hosui,Round pineapple, Early crisp pear, Shinseiki and the emerald. The golden Xiehua pearis the local variety, which is famous in Henan Province, and is the national protectionof geographical indications products.2. The average weight from large to small in order is as follows: Golden Xiehua,Round pineapple, Early crisp pear, Hosui, the emerald, Shinseiki and Laiyang pear.Laiyang pear fruits’ shape is spindle-shaped. Hosui and Round pineapple are nearlycircular. Early crisp pear, Shinseiki and the emerald are oblate. Round pineapple fruits’color is golden yellow, Hosui is brown. The rest cultivars are yellowish green. Laiyangpear pulp is white. Shinseiki and the emerald are milky white. The rest are white. 3. All Short shoots’ fruit-set ability are stronger thant others’. Laiyang pearbudding force is medium, the rest of the pear budding force is strong. Hosui and Earlycrisp pears’ branching ability are weak. Laiyang pears’ branching ability ismedium.And the rest of the pears’ branching ability is strong. Postpohone harvestingwill lead Laiyang pear and Round pineapple fruit drop lightly. Postpohone harvestingwill not lead the rest of the pear fruit drop phenomenon. The disease-resistant abilityof Laiyang is weak, and the rest of the pear adisease-resistant ability is strong.4. Plant yield from high to low in turn is Golden Xiehua frame, Round pineapple,Laiyang frame, Hosui, Early crisp pear, the emerald and Shinseiki. The price from lowto high is in following order: Golden Xiehua frame, Laiyang frame, Early crisp pear,Hosui, Round pineapple, Shinseiki and the emerald.5. Laiyang pear, Round pineapple and Hosui are planted in open-center pattern inNingling county’s Ten thousand mu pear orchard; Early crisp pear, Shinseiki and theemerald are planted in spindle pattern. Golden Xiehua and Laiyang pear cultivar areboth used as main variety and pollination tree.6. Main diseases are pears black heart, pear anthrax, pear black star disease andring spot.7. Main pests are Janus Piri Okamoto et Muramatsu, Psylla Pyrisuga Forst,Illiberis Pruni Dyar, and holitha molesta (Busck).
