The chemical compositions of royal jelly are complex. Generally the maincompositions of fresh royal jelly include water, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, minerals and other trace elements. Because of its complex chemicalcompositions, royal jelly always plays an important role in physiology and pharmacy, such as tumor inhibition, immunoregulation, antihypertatension, antiatheroscloresis, antioxidation, antibiosis, antifatigue and so on. This paper intends to study the effectson the quality of royal jelly by changing the contents of proteins in the feeds of bees.Proteins and peptides in royal jelly were extracted and utilized to investigate itseffects on tumor, preparing for further study royal jelly. The results are as follows:1 The effects of protein contents in feed on 10-HDA in royal jellyHPLC was used in our study. The results indicated that there were certain effectson 10-HDA. However, there were no significant differences among the same batchesin different experimental groups and different batches in the same groups (P>0.05).The 10-HDA content of the control group of pollen was higher than that of the samebatches of experimental groups except in the second detection.2 The effects of protein contents in feed on the proteins in royal jellyKjeldahl method was used. The results indicated the protein contents in royaljelly changed slightly after the bees were fed by feed with different contents ofproteins. But there were no significant differences among the same batches indifferent experimental groups and different batches in the same groups (P>0.05).3 The effects of protein contents in feeds on the acidity of royal jellypH meter was used. The results showed that there were no significant differences among experimental groups (P>0.05)4.Two compounds, F1 and F2, were separated by medium pressure liguidchromatograph after the rolyal jelly was dissolved.5. The inhibition effects of proteins extracted from royal jelly on leukemia cellsThe extracted proteins could inhibit the growth of leukemia cells. Its inhibitionrate was not so high when the concentration of proteins was 400μg/mL; while theinhibition rate was 43.01% when the concentration was 600μg/mL. However, whenthe concentration was 800μg/mL, the inhibition rate did not raise obviously.6. The inhibition effects of extracted peptides from royal jelly on leukemia cellsTwo peptides, F1 and F2, were extracted and purified. The inhibition rates of F1were 43.84%、47.42%、63.37% respectively, when its concentrations were 400、600and 800μg/mL. F1 could exhibit excellent inhibition activity against leukemia cells, and it was dose-dependent. The inhibition rates of F2 were 12.97%、38.32%、12.65%,when its concentrations were 400、600 and 800μg/mL. F2 could inhibit the growth ofleukemia cells. Its optimum inhibition concentration was 600μg/mL.
