This paper focuses on the key technologies of Forest Growth And Yield Simulation System(SGAYSS). We summarized the various technical that associated with SGAYSS Through extensive surveys and studies on the history and current status of The Stand Growth and Yield Simulation System domestic and overseas. These theories and technologies include the following aspects:theories about stand growth and yield, computer graphics, three-dimensional visualization techniques, trees visualization methods, visualization simulation in GIS and so on.Three main types of SGAYSS users have been analyzed, and a general design for SGAYSS is provided. In the design, the Simulation System function is divided into basic functional module and extended function module. Basic function module is realized in different forms of SGAYSS, and extended function is implemented according to the actual demand.By utilizing geographical information system3D visual develop component ArcScene Control and using sub-compartment basic factor information in the forest resource database as main data source we developed stand growth simulation system, simulate the stand state in the future period, and visual display the stand within the scope of sub-compartment boundary. The SGAYSS was integrated into country-level Forest Resource Information Management System as stand growth simulation module. In the meanwhile, a DBH distribution histogram matching method is proposed in the paper. Using whole-stand growth model to predict each tree’s growth situation in the stand.Chinese Fir plantation growth visual simulation is realized on the basis of3D GIS.
