Spatial and temporal distribution of forest fire and affect factors from in Fujian, Sanming, Fujian province from2000to2009were studied. The forest fire data, weather data and forest resources data were collected during this decade. The related SPSS and GIS software were used to studied relevant research contents. The results indicated that the yearly dynamic of forest fire showed the fluctuation pattern. Especially in the year2008to2009, the number of forest fire increased and accounted for35.08%of the researched decade. The fire season in Sanming mainly from January to March, which account for65.4%of total fires in these ten years, especially on March, so the late winter and early spring is the main fire season in the studied area. At the day level, most of fire happened during the time period from9am to6pm, which accounted for92.42%of total fires, especially on the2pm, the fire number and burned area were161individual fires and2271.1hm2. As to the spatial distribution pattern, the fires mainly distributed in Datian County and Youxi County, were147and144fires respectively, the burned area were3535.6hm2and2385.6hm2respectively.The main affecting factors on forest fire distribution including fire causes, forest combustibility and weather parameters. The results indicated that the human caused fires accounted for99.91%of all fires in the studied decade, among of the fire causes, the burning waste and charcoal account for64.97%, that means the fire causes had the directly affect on the forest fire occurrences. Base on the combustibility of the main forest types in Sanming, the forests can be classified as five types, which including the combustible, easy combustible and hard combustible forest type, as well as hard combustible economic forest and bamboo forests. Nearly80%forest fires happened on the easy combustible forests. According to the relationship between the climate change and the fire distribution characteristics, the results showed that among the high risk fire season from January to March, the monthly average maximum air temperature and wind speed increased along with the year during the studied period, on other hand, the precipitation and relative humidity decreased along with the year, under this kind of weather, the forest fires were prone to happen.According to the classification results of the combustibility of main forest types in Sanming, combined with the fire distribution characteristics, the different fire danger rating areas were classified, the results indicated that the Southeast areas including Youxi County and Datian County was classified as class I fire danger areas, the four areas including Sha County, Yong’an city, Qingliu County and Ninghua County in Southwest areas were classified class II fire danger areas, and Jianning County, Taining County, Jiangle County, Mingxi County, Sanming city area were classified as class III fire danger areas. The above research results can provide scientific basis on the forest fire management, as well as the forest fire prevention projects.
