Transgenic crops have high quality, high yield, and resistance to disease and pests.And genetically modified crops have increased agricultural productivity substantially. Soplanting transgenic crops have saved farmland to some extent, and thus have played a greatrole in protecting the forest and the biodiversity in forest reserves. Genetically modifiedcrops eased poverty and hunger resulted by food scarcity; and reduced the use of pesticidessuch as insecticide, herbicides and so on. They decreased carbon dioxide emissions byminimal tillage or fallow, relieved the impact on environment, and prevented soil and waterloss to some extent.Genetically modified crops were born in laboratory. The large-span, salutatory genetransfers were quite different from the long natural selection and hybridation of similarspecies. Their safety is unknown, and may have an effect on biodiversity. Since born ofgenetically modified crops, there have always been reports on safety of geneticallymodified crops, for example, the Canadian “super weeds”, the Mexico corn events and soon. Such events have sounded the alarm for us, and have caused great concerns. The safetyof genetically modified crops has increasingly become a research focus.Studies have shown that exogenous gene is not completely insulated with the humanbody. Functional genes were transferred to the crop may be able to enter the body and affecthuman metabolism. This allows us to have caution in the treatment of transgenictechnology promotion. Full assessment its safety becomes more important. Constructiontransgenic crop information platform and making an objective evaluation of the safety ofgenetically modified crops are very important..The paper set up the information platform of transgenic soybean-maize-wheat. Theplatform mainly includes the database of safety assessment, referencing materials, the latestprogress of studying at home and abroad, policies and regulations, and onlinecommunications. The database of safety assessment collected the basic information oftransgenic soybean, maize and wheat at home and abroad, which includes lines name, kindsof crops, special characteristics, exogenous gene, methods of transformation and researchinstitutions and so on, the measure method, technology and standard related with safety assessment. In special, it collected the latest progress of transgenic crops studying of ourcountry. The platform helps to supply information on the three genetically modified crops,and provide theoretical foundation and technical support for the research and industrialized.
