Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit is a perennial herbaceous plant of Araceae. It’s an important traditional Chinese medicine. Due to the decreasing of wild resources and laggard cultivation, resources of Pinellia ternata can’t meet the needs of market. Diseases, insect pests and tumbled sprout affect the yield and quality of Pinellia ternata seriously in the production. Therefore, research on mechanism for tumbled sprout is siganificant for increasing the yield of Pinellia ternata. This paper discussed the effect of SNP on the growth and active compoents of Pinellia ternata. The main results of experiment are as following:1. SNP of100μmol/L and200μmol/L can increase the activity of SOD, POD, CAT and contents of proline, soluble sucrose, soluble protein in the Shanxi population of Pinellia ternata under high temperature stress. But, MDA content decreased. Proper concentration of SNP is effective to promote antioxidant ability and relieve the harm to pnellia ternata.2. The chlorophyll content and Pn of Pinellia ternata treated by100and200μmol/L SNP increased compared to the treatments by water.200μmol/L SNP increased the Fv/Fm, qP and qN significantly. It shows that200μmol/L SNP can relieve the harm by high temperature and promote the light energy conversion efficiency of leaves.3.200μmol/L SNP is benefit to increase the yield for Shanxi,Taizhou and Pizhou populations of Pinellia ternata. The contents of Organic Acid in the Taizhou and Pizhou populations of Pinellia ternata. are more than the control. Compared to control, the contents of guanosine and total alkaloidals in the three populations of Pinellia ternata are higher obviously. It indicates that proper concentration of SNP may promote the forming and accumulation of secondary metabolites in the tuber of Pinellia ternata.
