Marine ranching has been accepted by more and more people as a new fisheriesdeveloping mode. Recently, China is increasing the human and material resource todevelop marine ranching, and marine ranching is been developed rapidly in severalcoastal province, like Liaoning, Shandong, Zhejiang and so on. There are about morethan30marine ranching in China. Site selection is one of the most important partduring the marine ranching construction, carrying out site selection work scientificallyis the base of a successful marine ranching construction. Through various forms ofresearch as well as different methods, this paper researched on site selection issue ofmarine ranching, and obtained at several conclusions as following:(1)The concept of modern marine ranching could be summarized as: made up bytechnology of habitat environment improvement like artificial reefs, technology of stockenhancement like juvenile releasing, technology of controlling fisheries behavior likeacoustic conditioning, and combining several modes of fisheries organically, setting upa mechanism like releasing-breed-take, using the primary productivity and the room ofthe sea, to make the sustainable and comprehensive outputs. Site selection is of a greatsignificance to marine ranching developing, which mainly performed as following:1)it is the guarantee to ensure that the output of marine ranching;2) it is an importantcondition to ensure that marine ranching could be controlled;3) it is a carrier whichcan make the different factor to act collaboratively.(2) The theory nature of the site selection for marine ranching is Multi-objectivedecision-making problem. And its operational processing are as following:esTab.lishing the principal of site selection, analyzing the styles and purpose of marineranching, analyzing the factors which affecting site selection, collecting and collatingdata of the area, qualitative analyzing and making primary decisions, data recollectingand collating, setting up evaluation program after choosing specific factors, furtherevaluation and making the best program.(3)To summarize the factors affecting site selection of marine ranching is themost important process during marine ranching construction, this paper summed up thefactors which were sort of social and economic, physical marine environment and biological marine environment. Further, these factor are the styles and purpose ofmarine ranching, accessibility, marine function zoning, construction base, fisheriesdeveloping plan and management policy, water quality, water depth, flow velocity,slope, wave, substrate, target species and its life history, primary productivity, fisheriesresource, and so on.(4)Take Zhoushan islands as an example, using FVCOM module to set up thenonlinear structural model of Zhoushan islands, selecting several sites and using historydata to verify the module, and the verification result showed that the accuracy of themodule is good. Further, using FVCOM module to calculate the water depthdistribution and flow velocity distribution. After analyzing the two distribution map,selected four initial sites, they are Ma’an islands area, east Daishan islands area, Dongjiislands area, and Yang-an Mao touyang area.(5) In order to construct marine ranching in Zhoushan City effectively, afteranalyst the factors affecting the site selection of marine ranching, using AHP method tobuild up the evaluation model, and set up judgment matrix by delphi method, usingyaahp5.3R1software to evaluate the judgment matrix, and checked the consistency ofjudgment matrix, at last, get the weight value of the different project. The result showedthat the preferential order of the four sites selection is Ma’an archipelago marineranching(0.2895), Dongji island marine ranching(0.2766), Yang’an-Maotou marineranching(0.2219), and East Daishan island marine ranching(0.2120). Zhoushan Citycould give priority to funding and project to construct Ma’an archipelago marineranching and Dongji island marine ranching.(6) Take Ma’an islands area as an example to carry out the microscopic study ofmarine ranch site selection. Using GIS as a tool to process water depth and flowvelocity data, and using Mapinfo as a tool to process marine function zoning data, andobtained water depth distribution map, flow velocity distribution map, and the marinefunction zoning map. According the grading criteria, reclassified the distribution map ofsingle factor, then overlay the reclassified map to obtain the best map of marineranching site selection. The result showed that most of the best area were located aroundthe islands, and avoided the area where has inappropriate water depth, flow velocity andmarine function zoning. The specific location is north Lvhua island, the adjacent areaaround Shang san-heng island, west Xia san-heng island, the adjacent area aroundHuangjiao island. The result of comparison and validation showed that the two artificialreefs area had been used were located in the selected best area.
