Saturated hydraulic conductivity and specific yield are both important parameters of thewetland hydrological processes study. They are subject to the impact of the wetland substrateproperties. Therefore, the researches on wetland substrate properties help us to understand thespecial wetland hydrological processes and ecological functions. In this paper, a large numberof field investigations, sampling, laboratory experiments and data analysis were used fordiscovering the variation law of four different plant communities in the Jinchuan peatwetlands (Betula platyphylla Suk.-B.ovalifolia Rupr-P. australis, P. australis-lehmanniiDrejer, lehmannii Drejer, B.ovalifolia Rupr) at different depths peat layer. Meanwhilesaturated hydraulic conductivity, specific yield, peat decomposition, fiber degree, the particlediameter class, bulk density, moisture content, porosity, water and ash were tested, which mayaffect the properties of the saturated hydraulic conductivity and specified yield. The results showed that the Jinchuan wetland peat of the saturated hydraulicconductivity range of0to51.532×10-6m/s, and mean of4.760×10-6m/s,±5.921×10-6m/s, specific yield range of00.130, which shows that the saturated hydraulic conductivitygradually decreases with increasing depth. The depth of more than20cm under the cover ofthe two kinds of plant communities of lehmannii Drejer and B.ovalifolia Rupr peat saturatedhydraulic conductivity significantly higher than the other two plant communities; however thedifference of40cm depth layer is not significant. for the same plant communities within theregion, the community of lehmannii Drejer and B.ovalifolia Rupr20cm depth of peatsaturated hydraulic conductivity were significantly higher than in the other the depth of thecorresponding value. There is no significant difference between different plant communitiesin specific yield, but the specified yield decreases with increasing depth.20cm depth of peatspecific yield was significantly higher than the other the depth of the corresponding value. There is a certain correlation between saturated hydraulic conductivity, specific yield andother basic physical properties. The peat saturated hydraulic conductivity is affected by peatdepth, water holding capacity, bulk density, fiber degree, specific yield, porosity. Thespecified yield is affected by the depth, decomposition degree, water-holding capacity, bulkdensity and saturated hydraulic conductivity. Different from the soil, no significant correlationrelationship was discovered between saturated hydraulic conductivity and organic mattercontent of peat, as well as specific yield. In addition, the ground surface vegetation alsoaffects the sub ground peat saturated hydraulic conductivity.
