Polyploidy is a natural phenomenon in the process of plant evolution. Polyploidy plants have many features, such as:strong resistance, great organ and sexual maturity. Therefore, polyploidy breeding has been already applied in many crops.Mco122polyploid, Nanzhi199polyploid and SC8polyploid induced by Huazhong Agricultural University were used as the materials for present study. The observed results from leaves and root tip chromosome of the described above cassava polyploidy showed that these polyploidy were tetraploid.2-DE gel profiles of Mco122tetraploid leaves showed13differential protein spots compared with that of Mco122, in which12were successfully matched in the database provided by MALDI-TOF-TOF MS/MS.4proteins were associated with photosynthesis and the percentage was34%in total differential proteins, including phosphoglycerate kinase、Rubisco、carbonic anhydrase and cytochrome b6-f complex;2antioxidant protein of SOD; ftsH involved in cell division;14-3-3involved in signal transduction;1chaperones HSP;1binding protein;50S ribosomal protein L12associated with protein synthesis and1unknown function protein.2-DE gel profiles of NZ199tetraploid leaves showed15differential protein spots compared with that of NZ199, in which13were successfully identified.6proteins were associated with photosynthesis and the percentage was46%in total differential proteins, including phosphoglycerate kinase、Rubisco and carbonic anhydrase; ATP synthase subunit beta involved in energy metabolism;14-3-3involved in signal transduction;1DNA binding protein;150S ribosomal protein L12associated with protein synthesis;1associated with HCN metabolism and1unknown function protein.2-DE gel profiles of SC8tetraploid leaves showed14differentially protein spots compared with SC8, in which13were successfully identified.5proteins were associated with photosynthesis and the percentage was42%in total differential proteins, including phosphoglycerate kinase、Rubisco and cytochrome b6-f complex;2signal transduction protein:14-3-3and ATP-binding cassette transporter;150S ribosomal protein L12associated with protein synthesis;1chaperones HSP;1antioxidant protein of SOD; ftsH involved in cell division and2unknown function proteins. Proteomics research results showed that the proteins related with photosynthesis were up-regulated after polyploidy, improving photosynthesis efficiency of cassava leaves in a certain extent; In addition, proteins related with stress and signal transfer were up-regulated, also improving resistance in a certain level.
