Panax ginseng is the traditional Chinese medicine, extremely famous and precious, which is high value of medicine and can keep people healthy. The traditional ginseng cultivation modes are at the cost of deforestation, which causes serious devastation to the ecological environment. During the1960s, farmers began to plant ginseng in China. However, the ginseng is a kind of perennial plants, ginseng can not be cultivated every year without stop. As the updating capacity of farmland soil is weaker than woodland, the farmland is easier to become the old ginseng soil. In addition, there are huge differences between farmland and new woodland on micro-ecological environment such as pH value, soil nutrient, soil bulk density, soil porosity and soil microorganisms and so on. As a result, it is more difficult for farmer s to cultivate ginseng. This paper introduces the method of improving the ecological soil on farmland to promote old ginseng soil, in order to realize sustainable use of old ginseng soil resources. The current study combines the old ginseng soil improvement technology researched prior in laboratory with the fermentation of corn straw powder、cake fertilizer microbial fertilizer、plantash、calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer and trace element fertilizer to improve the quality of farmland old ginseng soil, with the aim to establish the suitable micro-ecological environment for ginseng growth and improve the output and quality of ginseng cultivated on farmland. This research mainly focuses on the investigation of the farmland old ginseng soil with one-year ginseng cultivation and the condition of ginseng cultivation, centering on the study of physicochemical properties of soil, soil microflora, soil enzyme activity, the condition of ginseng growth, leaf physiological and biochemical effects of leaf photosynthesis indexes, saponin content of ginseng and so on, to investigate in order to observe the farm old ginseng ecology improvement effect. The findings are as follows:1. The physiological and biochemical indexes of soil increased markedly after various modified matrix are applied in the old ginseng soil, among these, the first group, the combination of fermentation of corn straw powder, organic fertilize, inorganic fertilizer and biological agent, achieved the most obvious effect.2. Compared with the control group, the bacteria and actinomycetes numbers in treatment group are increased, the number of bacteria is increased at74.47%-94.68%; The number of actinomycosis is increased at20.52%-69.23%; The number of fungi was significantly reduced, only37.89%-74.53%of ck.3. After the soil is improved, the activity of soil enzyme is significantly increased. Compared with control group, urease activity of ecological modifier soil in treatment group is increased at2.17%-74.99%; catalase activity is increased at5.06%-22.90%; the activity of invertase is increased at6.13%-101.31%; activity of phosphatase is increased at1.24%-74.38%. The effects of ecological improvement on soil were expressed as follows:saccharase> neutral phosphatase> urease catalase. 4. Photosynthetic and physiological and biochemical index is increased significantly except a few treatment group with high ginseng and fat stem. Additionally, and the rate of high-quality ginseng and the output of ginseng are significantly improved.5. Compared with the control group, the total saponins and ginseng root saponins content in treatment groups all has been increased at different rates, among these treatment groups, the total saponin of group one is the most significant different compared with control group. To summarize, the ecological improvement method of old farmland ginseng soil can solve the problem of ginseng cultivated on farmland every year without stop.
