This paper reseached the biological characteristics of Locusta migratoria migratoria and ecological-environment characters of the locust plague area in Jilin province through raising and investigation in order to understand the occurrence rule of the locust. The results were forwarded to provide the reference for control techiqu-es of locust plague in Jilin province.Locusta migratoria migratoria occurs1generation annually in Jilin province, and the eggs are laid in soil to overwinter. The overwinter eggs begin to hatch at early or middle June and reach the hatching peak in middle June. The developmental durati-on of nymphs are28-35days, each spents5-7days. The adult emergence time is in early July, and reaches the eclosin peak period in middle July. After about a week the adult male and female begin to copulate, and reach the copulation peak in late July. The adult begin to oviposit in early August after copulation for two weeks, and the oviposition activity has been extended to the early October. The environmental conditions have important influences on the growth and breeding activities of Locusta migratoria migratoria.Relationships between locust occurrence and landforms of topography, climate, vegetation, soil pH value, soil salinity and soil organic matter of the locust plague area are analyzed in this paper. The results indicate that the locust plague area is low-lying reed wetlands which is nearby the inland lake; The climate is dry in spring and high temperatures in summer; The vegetation type of this area is good for Locusta migratoria migratoria to survivor. The results show that the soil which the adults choose to spawn was alkalescent, and salinity was below0.45%. The soil conditions also help to the survival of Locusta migratoria migratoria.
