Objective In the urinary system, ureteral calculi are common diseases, and the subsection ofureter is to confirm the stone orientation so as to guide the best treatment. Through the comparisonboth ESWL and URSL about the results of the treatment of ureteral calculi in different location, thisstudy is to discuss them with the advantages and disadvantages of treatment of ureteral calculi.Method The study does not include ureteral obstruction, the stricture of ureteral orifice, ureteralstricture, ureteral calculi being packed tightly and excessive complexity of ureteral calculi, and itonly purely researches the curative effect of ureteral calculi and postoperative complications. TheUreteral Calculi in different location was diagnosed according to the diagnostic imagingmethods(including B ultrasonic,UB,VU,T et al.) and laboratory tests. The patient were collectedfrom120patients with the teatment of URSL (URSL group) and120patients with the teatment ofESWL (ESWL group). There were78males and42females in URSL group and62males and58females in ESWL group. The average ages were (43.40±14.90) years old in URSL group and(43.37±10.07) years old in ESWL group. The efficacy, safety and the probability of complicationwere compared between URSL group and ESWL group.Results①The effective rate of treating with upper ureteral calculi was75.0%in URSL group and92.9%in ESWL group, the significant difference was found between URWL group and ESWLgroup (P<0.05). The effective rate of treating with middle and lower ureteral calculi in URSLgroup(93.1%), was significantly higher than that in ESWL group(67.2%)(P<0.01). The effective rateof treating with ureteral calculi in URSL group(85.8%) was significantly higher than the one inESWL group(79.2%)(P<0.05).②In URSL and ESWL group, the incidence of complications of theupper ureteral calculi after treatment have been compared, with significant difference(P<0.05);Theincidence and total of the middle and lower ureteral calculi after treatment have been compared, withall no significant difference(P>0.05). In URSL group, all being have complications have not theureteral perforation and the avulsed injury of ureteral mucosa, and the upper movement of ureteralcalculi have appeared, to treat by ESWL it with the double J pipe being placed. Conclusion Ureteroscopic Pneumatic Lithotripsy(URSL) is a minimally invasive, safe and good method for ureteral calculi. The incidence of complications of treating with the middle and lowerureteral calculi after treatment has no statistically significant difference. So do URSL with bettereffect, but it needs hospitalization, gives the anesthetic, costs highly and happens the risk of seriouscomplications. Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) is a noninvasive treatment, inwhich is a minimal injury for the tissue of human body and the first choice of treatment with upperureteral calculi. For the patients with the upper ureteral calculi, the indience of complications oftreating by URSL group with ureteral calculi was higher than the one by ESWL group. We think thatESWL group has the simple of treatment method, higher effcicency, small trauma, needs not being inhospital, needs not anesthesia, relatively low in the costs of treatment and so on, and it can be usedas the first choice if it may be surgical intervention treatment.
