Objective: To evaluate the results of ureteroscopic treatment of ureteral stones with a pneumatic lithotripter and to discuss the methodes to improve the outcomes and to decrease the complications.Methods: we retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 516patients who underwent the ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy at our hospital from January 2007 to February 2011.Results: The overall comminution ratio of the stoes has achieved 92.87%, Complication has occurred in 5.81% of those patients. Conclusion: ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy is a safe and effective treatment of ureteral stones, especially for mid middle and lower ureteral stones and the ones treated unsuccessfully by extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) and the stone street.
