Objective To Summarize clinical experience of patients with breast cancerunderwent oncoplastic techniques in breast conserving surgery and evaluate thecosmetic outcome.Methods A total of35patients with breast cancer who underwent oncoplasticbreast surgery were analyzed retrospectively from January2009to December2011.Aesthetic outcomes and patient satisfaction were also assessed.Results The average age was52years (range from21to56years), averagetumor size was1.7cm (range,0.7to2.8cm).The tumors located at upper quadrant in31patients,lower quadrant in4.Two incisions approach was used in all of thepatients.A variety of methods were used to repair breast defects includingcircumareolar incision in13, radial incision in9, arc incision in11,Inverted-T incisionin1,Inframammary fold plasty in1. During a median follow-up of12months (range,4to38months),none of the patients had an postoperative complication, neitherlocal/lymph node recurrences nor distant metastases were documented. A satisfactoryaesthetic outcome was obtained in100%(35/35) percent.Patients satisfactionquestionnaire showed that28patients(80%) were excellent,5(14.3%) good,2(5.7%)general,and0(0%)poor.Conclusions Oncoplastic techniques in the breast conservative therapy forbreast cancer can remove a tumour completely,with highly satisfactory cosmeticoutcomes in the majority of patients. |
