Objective:1. To develop the case teaching evaluation scale which is suitable to nursing students?2. To explore the effects of case method pedagogy in basic nursing experimentteaching.Methods:1. Development case teaching evaluation scale. The original item pool was formulatedthrough frame structure, revised by the experts repeatedly, evaluated by154undergraduate nursing students who had accepted case method teaching. It used themethods such as independent t test、reliability analysis、factor analysis to test thereliability and validity.2. The application of case method teaching in basic nursing experiment teaching. Theexperiment group was taught by case method teaching, the control group was taughtby traditional teaching model, the quantitative research and qualitative research wasused to evaluate the teaching methods.Results:1. The scale had20items, and5case quality items,5teaching ability items,4teaching attitude items,6teaching effectiveness items. The Cronbach’s α of scale was0.9485and the Cronbach’s α of each subscale was ranged from0.8204to0.8925, thecorrelations between each subscale and total scale were significantly. The KMO andBartlett’s spherically value was0.944、1745.382,(p﹤0.01), which was adaptive tofactor analysis. It used the method of pre-determined criteria extracts4factors, aftervarimax rotation which could explain63.5%of the total variance, which was close totheoretical construct.2. The two groups has no significant difference in nursing skills and theoreticalknowledge scores; the experimental group was higher than control group inself-management、learn cooperation、information literacy; And the experimental grouphas better evaluation of the quality of classroom teaching.3. The qualitative research shows that the evaluation about case method teaching could extract four themes: real practice experience、 complex attitude towardslearning、thirst for knowledge and sound advice.Conclusions:1. The case teaching evaluation scale has good reliability and validity, which providean effective tool for evaluate the quality of case method teaching.2. Case method teaching could help students cultivate professional feelings、nursingassessment and critical thinking、 Interpersonal communication and ability tocooperate、sense of innovation and innovation capacity, strengthen the relationbetween nursing skills and theoretical knowledge, improve the ability ofself-management、learn cooperation and Information literacy.
