PURPOSE:To investigate the risk factors which may cause the calcification in the aterosclertic plaque of carotid artery.METHODS:Retrospective analysis the patients who were treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, there are 156 patients were recorded and examined by CTA.121 casea were enrolled and found that 56 cases had calcification of carotid artery, others were as control group. We investigate the baseline material in the two group, including the tranditional risk factors of atherosclerosis, and compare the relationship between the degree of calcification in plaque and senosis of carotid artery.RESULTS:The male, age, history of hypertension, high sensitivity C-reactive protein(CRP), Calcium, phosphate, and their product make diffence in statistics between Calcification group and non-Calcification group (p<0.05); Other risk factors, such as history of coronary disease, hyperlipdemia. The higher the level of the calcification in the group of more serious the carotid artery stenosis, there is a statistically significant difference among the two groups(χ2=6.15, P<0.05)CONCLUSION:The male, age, history of hypertension, high sensitivity C-reactive protein(CRP), Calcium, phosphate, and their product maybe are the risk factors of crotid artery calcification. The degree of plaque calcification is correlated with the stenosis of carotid artery.
