Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of catheter-directed thrombolysis therapy in treating lower extremity deep venous thrombosis, then provide scientific guidelines for clinical practice. Methods:A hospital case-control study was applied to analyze the84patients with lower extremity deep venous thrombosis, who were enrolled at the1st affiliated hospital of Guangxi Medical University between January,2006and September2011. All these patients were divided into two groups based on the different administration route.43patients in the systemic thrombolysis group were given thrombolysis from peripheral veins of the suffered limb,41patients in the catheter-directed thrombolysis group were given catheter-directed thrombolysis. All patients were hospitalized for observation and followed-up6months to1year, then, the recent outcomes, long-term outcomes and complications of the two groups were compared. Results:Compared with the systemic thrombolysis group, the recent outcomes and long-term outcomes of the catheter-directed thrombolysis group is better(P<0.05), complications are less(P<0.05).Conclusion:Catheter-directed thrombolysis therapy is more effectively in treating lower extremity deep venous thrombosis, less complications, beneficial to the limb swelling, has reduced the recurrence rate; has also delayed the recurrence date, and the post-thrombotic syndrome are relatively fewer. So, it shall be a safty and effective treatment of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis.
