| Objective:To study the clinical features, radiographic characteristics, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of cherubism(CH).Methods:A case of serious cherubism which confirmed by pathology, that treated by oral maxillofacial surgery of the the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University Medical College during2008~2010and received several staging cutting and fitting surgery was analyzed retrospectively. To review the reports of domestic and foreign papers in cherubism by analysing the clinical features, radiograph, histopathologic features, treatment and prognosis.Results:The mainly characteristics of cherubism is symmetrical, painless expansion of maxilla and mandible and exophthalmos, staring upward. Radiographic appearances is multilocular radiolucent shadow and osteoporosis of bilateral maxilla and mandible. Root resorption, teeth loss and teeth mobility are the mainly changes. The lesions like the dark fibrous granulation tissue in macroscopical. In microscopically, the bone tissue is replaced by the hyperplasia fibrous tissue, rich of vascular, around which the multinucleated giant cells focal aggregation. Treatment to improve the face is cutting and fitting the maxilla and mandible. The prognosis is good, less recurrence.Conclusions:Cherubism is a rare benign disease, which mainly appearance is bone deformities. The bess treatment is cutting and bone fitting surgery. Pathological and radiography have important significance on the diagnosis and treatment of cherubism. |
