Study On The Constitution Of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) In People Of Prehypertension

Objectives:To investigate the relationships between Prehypertension and the constit-utional types of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). To provide evidences for intervention of the Constitution of TCM in people of prehypertention.Methods:The data comes from the Medical Center of GuangDong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We select200people of prehypertension and200people whose blood pressure is high-normal.Question them past medical history and family history about cardiovascular diseases. Record height, wei-ght, BMI, TC, LDL-C, FPG and other risk factors of Cardiovascular Disease. The survey of the Constitution of TCM was performed by standardized TCM Cons-titution Questionnaire (2002edition). A multiple stepwise logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the significantly influential constitutional factors of prehypertension. Compare the difference of various factors and dif-ferences between people of different Constitution.Result:Studies have shown that phlegm-dampness, yin deficiency, blood-stasis con-stitution are main types of Constitution in the people of prehypertension.Four TCM constitutional factors were enclosed in the regression equa-tion, They were phlegm-dampness, yin deficiency, blood-stasis constitution, and Normal constitution. The OR were3.76,3.08,3.34and0.24respectively.The main constitutional influential factors of Prehypertension in male patients were phlegm-dampness, yin deficiency and Normal constitution, with OR of4.09,4.04and0.23. The main constitutional influential factors of Prehypertension in female patients were phlegm-dampness, blood-stasis consti-tution, and Normal constitution, with OR of3.55,4.20and0.27.There were significant statistics difference between four main influenti-al constitution on smoking, alcohol intake, lack of exercise, family history of cardiovascular disease (P<0.05). There were no significant Statistics diff-erence on lack of sleep (P>0.05). There were significant Statistics difference between four main influential constitution on age、BMI、waist perimeter、 FBG、TC、LDL-C、TG (P<0.05). There were no significant Statistics difference on Cr、BUN、UA(P>0.05)Conelusion:The main influential factors of Prehypertension include phlegm-dampness constitution, yin deficiency, blood-stasis constitution, and Normal consti-tution.There is epidemiological evidence for intervention of the Constitution of TCM in people of prehypertention.
