Study On The Effect Of Xiaozhongzhitong Plaster And Xiaozhongzhitong Cataplasm In Treating Patients With Acute Ankle Sprain

BackgroundTCM treatment of acute ankle sprain has a lot of treatments with significantly effect, and the treatments have obvious superiority for simple, low cost. Xiaozhongzhitong Plaster of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of TCM have the effects of cooling the blood、 deswelling、 dredging the collaterals and relieving pain. It is remarkable in the treatment of soft tissue injury. Yet its lack of compelling clinical data, and exist problem such as use dosage form inconvenience. Yet its lack of compelling clinical data, and exist problem such as the inconvenience in using dosage form.ObjectivesTo compare the effect of Cold Compress, Xiaozhongzhitong Plaster and Xiaozhongzhitong Cataplasm on patients with acute ankle sprain.MethodsPatients with acute ankle sprain were divided randomly into three groups with each group30cases; cold compress group were treated with ice bag within the first48hours, while the other groups with Xiaozhongzhitong Plaster and Xiaozhongzhitong Cataplasm. And we then graded the tenderness, swelling, range of motion before treatment and treatment after1,3,7,14,21days. Results:The difference was significant in treatment after3days on swelling and range of motion between the three groups (P<0.05), while in treatment after both14、21days on tenderness(P<0.05). ResultsThe difference was significant in treatment after3days on swelling and range of motion between the three groups (P<0.05), while in treatment after both14、21days on tenderness(P<0.05).ConclusionXiaozhongzhitong Plaster and Xiaozhongzhitong Cataplasm perform well on the treatment of Acute Ankle Sprain, especially for ease pain and improve swelling, speed up the functional recovery. The local skin stimulation of cataplasma and side-response were not significantly, it deserve the clinical expansion.
