Objective To observe the myocardial protective effect of Nicorandil on patients with unstable angina pectoris(UAP) after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Therapy(PCI).Methods 60 patients with UAP who needs PCI were randomly divided into Nicorandil group(n=30)and Contral group(n=30). The Contral group were given the standard drug treatment, while the Nicorandil group were added nicorandil.PCI was performed 48h after admission.Serum concentrations of creatine kinase-MB(CK-MB),cardiac troponin I(cTnI)were measured before and 6,12,24h after PCI. The Electronic Cardiogram(ECG) and Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction(LVEF) outcome 8 weeks after PCI were then observed. Results No significant differences were observed in clinical or coronary angiographic characteristics between the two groups. The concentration of CK-MB,cTnI were significantly lower in the nicorandil group as compared to the Contral group 24h after PCI(t=2.0402,p< 0.05, t=2.2411,p< 0.05). CK-MB and cTnl were both elevated in 5 patients (16.7%) of nicorandil group and 13 (43.3%) of contral group after PCI (p=0.047).Follow-up ECG and echocardiography results revealed that the ECG and LEVF improved better in Nicorandil group than the Contral group(u=2.475,p< 0.05;t=2.0610,p<0.05).Conclusion Oral administration of Nicorandil has a myocardial protective effect during PCI in patients with UAP.
