Objective:To investigate the effect of propentofylline on chronic prostatitis pain in rat GFAP and TNF-a of injected complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA) into prostate. Methods:Thirty male SD rats were randomly divided into3groups(n=10):group A(sham operated group),group B(experimental group),group C(Propentofylline group). In group A received injection of prostate20ul normal saline.Group B and C received injection into prostate20ul complete Freund’s adjuvant.After1,6,11days of operration,C group received intraperitoneal injection of2mg/kg propentofylline. In group A and B normal saline was given intrathecally instead of propentofylline. After building the model in5,10,15days,implement rat water tail-flick pain threshold test. After15days,the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and TNF-a were examined by immunohistochemistry. Results:The levels of GFAP and TNF-a in group A were less than that in group B and C.There were significant differences in the levels of GFAP and TNF-abetween groups B and A(P<0.05).And compared with group B,the increase in the levels of GFAP and TNF-a in groups C was less than that in group B(P<0.05).The water rat tail-flick pain threshold analysis within each group, different time points between the overall mean difference was no statistically significant(P>0.05);between the groups, the overall average difference has statistics significance(P<0.05); each time point and between groups interact with no statistical significance(P>0.05).Conclusion:Propentofylline could inhibit the activation of astroglia and the release of inflammatory mediators, and it may play important roles in inhibiting chronic prostatitis pain in rat model.
