Background:Helicobacter pylori had a very wide range of infection all over the world. Recent studies showed probiotic could inhibit Helicobacter pylori colonization both in vitro and in vivo.objective:To systematically evaluate whether probiotic supplement therapy could improve eradication rates and reduce side effects during anti-H. pylori treatment. And to understand the sources of heterogeneity, and comprehensively identify the potential influential factors. Methods:Electronic databases searching and hand searching of conference proceedings were conducted. We evaluated the methodological quality and abstracted relevant data. Data were entered into the Review Manager5.The outcome measure examined was the odds ratios (ORs) for improving H. pylori eradication rates and reducing side effects with probiotic versus without probiotic combining with eradication regimens. Subanalysis/Sensitivity analysis was also performed. Results:We identified25unique RCTs involving3628patients. Pooled H. pylori eradication rates were81.18%(95%CI79.25%-83.11%) and72.80%(95%CI70.66%-74.94%) for patients with or without probiotic, respectively, the odds ratio (OR) was1.80(95%CI1.50-2.14,P<0.00001); the occurrence of total side effects were20.09%and32.06%respectively for groups with or without probiotic.the summary OR was0.41(95%CI0.21-0.63,P<0.0001)Conclusions:The overall moderate evidence suggested that the probiotic supplement therapies can effectively improved the eradication rate of H. pylori, the same time, probiotic show a positive impact on H. pylori therapy-related side effects...
