| [Objective]The purpose of this study is to explore a simple but effective way to reduce tension and stress reaction of fundamental nursing skills test and so as to develop a strong implement that can improve Students’performance grades and increase employment opportunities. At the same time, it is expected to be a convenient method that can also reduce the anxiety of fundamental nursing skills test for clinical nurses.[Methods]Mediation combined with Paradoxical Intention Method were used in the study and operated in different stages to decrease stess of fundamental nursing skills test for nursing students.101junior college nursing students enrolled in2010from Lishui University Medical Colledge were selected as study objects by convenience sampling.51students in class1were considered as experimental group and50students in class2were regarded as control group. The two groups were in baseline lever and all received the same routine experimental teaching, skills test carried out at the end of semester(including sterile operation, intramuscular injection, catheterization and venous transfusion)and the same evaluations at the same timestamp, but the control group did not accept satisfaction survey. However, the experimental group received Mediation and Paradoxical Intention method while the control group didn’t. The intervention process was divided into two phases:training and applying. Before the intervention, researches got the informed consent.Training stage:The experimental group received one one-hour Mediation combined with Paradoxical Intention training, twice a week,5weeks in all (10times). Applying stage:The experimental group had two circles of exercises by using Mediation method (about10-12min) before test, and exerted Paradoxical Intention Method to give self-psychology implication during the test. A researcher recorded pulses in1day afternoon before test,at the moment before and after the Meditation;A psychiatrist recorded Beck anxiety scores at the moment before and after Meditation; Another4researchers documented the degree of hand-trembling and test grades of4operations respectively; the satisfaction of using Meditation and Paradoxical Intention was surveyed in experimental group after test by a student enrolled in2011.[Results]Beck anxiety scores and pulses of the experimental group students are lower than that before intervention and control group (P<0.05);Their hand-trembling degrees and incidence rates are lower and grades are higher than control group during the test (P<0.05).The experimental group total satisfaction rate was90.2%and nobody noted "dissatisfied"[Conclusions]Mediation and Paradoxical Intention were applied to intervene nursing students who took part in the fundamental nursing skill test in different period in the study, which made these students maintain a better state of mind before test, effectively reduce hand-trembling degrees and incidence rates and improve performance during the test. As a result, it obtains the goal that it can relieve the stress-induced anxiety of fundamental nursing skills test caused by specific examination room. As a simple method, Mediation and Paradoxical Intention Method can be applied widely in operation competition and job interview. It can also be an effective way that can reduce the test anxiety of fundamental nursing operation test for clinical nurses. |
