Objectives:To analyse and compare the difference of quality of life before and after chemotherapy between the different adjuvant regimens (FEC and TEC regimen). Methods:Twenty three breast cancer patients after modified radical mastectomy were prospectively included in department of surgical oncology in2nd hospital affiliated to Zhejiang University between July2010and February2012.12patients were received FEC regimen while11patients were in TEC regimen. Health-related quality of life was assessed for baseline, beginning and the end of chemotherapy cycles. According to EORTC QLQ-C30Scoring Manual score, the scores of the EORTC QLQ-C30and QLQ BR-23questionnaires were compared in the two groups (FEC&TEC regimen). Results:Among all the23patients, the Global health status/QOL of all the patients became worse after chemotherapy compared to the baseline assessment. However, there was no significant difference of Global health status/QOL between the first and the last cycle in the whole chemotherapy cycles. At the baseline, first and last cycles, there was also no significant difference of Global health status between the two groups. After the first chemotherapy cycle, patients treated with FEC regimen had higher body image evaluation than TEC regimen (p<0.05), and FEC group also had higher sexual function evaluation than TEC. Patients treated with TEC regimen had more serious arm symptom than those received FEC regimen. Other evaluation index of QOL had no significant difference between two chemotherapy regimens. Conclusion:Although the two chemotherapy regimens (FEC and TEC) can both lead to deteriorations in quality of life in breast cancer patients, there was no significant difference between the two groups.
