Objective To introduce a new type of China-made bileaflet mechanical prosthetic heart valve (CL-V bileaflet valve) and evaluate the early hemodynamic effect and early follow-up after its replacement. Methods Between2004and2011,21patients underwent heart valve replacement with CL-V bileaflet (CL group). The mitral valve replacement was performed in18patients, double valve replacement in3patients. A total of1AST bileaflet valve and23CL-V bileaflet valves were implanted (21in mitral position,2in aortic position). Heart size, hemodynamics and blood consistency were monitored7d,6m respectively after the operation, and compared with another20patients who underwent heart valve replacement with St.Jude bileaflet valve (SJM group). Follow-up was carried out routinely to check whether there were some valve-related complications. Results Follow-up was100%and extended6to61months. There was no early mortality (<30d) each group. There was no significant difference between both groups in their heart size, hemodynamics and blood consistence (P>0.05respectively). Without valve-related complications some patients have lived for more than5years.Conclusion Early clinical results and short-term follow-up demonstrate that CL-V bileaflet prosthetic valve exhibits low hemolytic property, excellent hemodynamic performance and no incidence of valve-related complications. Mid-term and Long-term results should be observed further. We hope that patients accumulation will demonstrate its good performance and long-term durability in the future.
