Objective:Assessing the current status of the core competency and the degree of Self-efficacy of clinical nursesin Cancer Hospital;Disscussing the relationship between core competencies and demographic characteriticsand self-efficacy of clinical nurses in Cancer Hospital;Qualitative research method was used to helpdeeply understand the core competencies of clinical nurses Which “the scope of Quantitative survey” doesnot cover.In order to analyze the core competencies needs of Cancer Hospital clinical nurses.MethodsThe Clinical registered nurses in the Henan Tumor Hospital and Anyang Tumor Hospital which areThree A-level Cancer Hospital are taken as the research objects,a combining both quantitative and qualitati-ve research method.Quantitative research survey includes:①general demographic information for nurses;②The assessment of core competencies in nurses: The“Competency Inventory for Registered Nursescale”(CIRN)was distributed to investigate areas of critical thinking/research aptitude,clinical care,leadership,interpersonal relation, legal/ethical practice,professional development,teaching/coaching.③The Self-efficacy was assessed by the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES):The purpose of samplingmethods was used in Qualitative research for semi-structured interviews, the interview outline wasdeveloped by reviewing Literature, The Recordings, transcripts and observation methods were used toin-depth interview under the consent of the subjects. There were514subjects included the QuestionnaireSurvey and Study,20subjects who were in the Interview study object. It was established database andanalyzed data by using SPSS17.0in the Quantitative data. The analysis methods include Univariateanalysis, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, hierarchical stepwise regression analysis. Results1、The current core capabilities status of clinical nurses in Cancer HospitalThe total score of the core capabilities of514clinical nurses in the Cancer Hospital is141.983±34.060;The score of critical thinking and research aptitude is22.868±6.289;The score of clinical care is22.226±5.689;The score of leadership is24.438±6.214; The score of interpersonal relationship is22.226±5.689;The score of legal/ethical practice score is21.465±4.982;The score of professionaldevelopment is14.158±3.925;The score of teaching/coaching score is16.617±4.623.2. The relationship between in the Demographic characteristics and core competence of nurses in CancerhospitalThere is a statistically significant difference between the different hospital level,age,marital status,jobtitle,educational background,nursing age,labor relations,family members in the core competence of nursesin Cancer hospital(P<0.05).3. The Self-efficacy of the clinical nurses in Cancer HospitalThe total score of the Self-efficacy of514clinical nurses in Cancer Hospital is24.234±5.340.4. The relationship between the core competencies and self-efficacy of clinical nurses in Cancer HospitalThe Self-efficacy and core competencies of the Cancer Hospital nurses is positively correlated(r=0.552,P<0.01).5.The Core competence of nurses in Cancer Hospital is analyzed by hierarchical stepwise regressionanalysisThe hierarchical stepwise regression analysis indicate: the factor that can influence the overall Corecompetence of the nurses in Cancer Hospital is educational background,age, self-efficacy, can forecast theoverall Core competence58.4%, the Self-efficacy can predictor independently12.7%;the factor that can influence the critical thinking/research aptitude is educational background,age, self-efficacy, can forecastthe critical thinking/research aptitude58.6%, the Self-efficacy can predictor independently13.5%;thefactor that can influence the nursing ability is educational background,age,self-efficacy, can forecast thenursing ability50.3%, the Self-efficacy can predictor independently13.9%;the factor that can influence theleadership is educational background,age,self-efficacy, can forecast the leadership50.3%, the Self-efficacycan predictor independently10.1%;the factor that can influence interpersonal relation is educationalbackground, age,self-efficacy, can forecast the interpersonal relation49.3%, the Self-efficacy can predictorindependently12.4%;the factor that can influence legal/ethical practice is educational background,self-ef-ficacy, can forecast the legal/ethical practice41.9%, the Self-efficacy can predictor independently5.6%;the factor that can professional development is educational background, self-efficacy, can forecastprofessional development47.5%, the Self-efficacy can predictor independently11.1%;the factor that canteaching/coaching is educational background,nursing age,self-efficacy, can forecast teaching/coaching55.0%, the Self-efficacy can predictor independently12.1%.6. The training needs of the Core competence of nurses working in Cancer HospitalClinical competence is determined by clinical practice of nurses in Cancer Hospital;Clinical nurses whowork in Cancer hospital want to participate in the nursing research which can actually solve the clinicalproblems;Nurses in Cancer Hospital should have a good self-adaptation, self-learning ability and excellentquality which comprehensive Self-quality;Interpersonal competence is especially important for nurses wor-king in Cancer Hospital.Conclusions1. The Core competence of nurses in Cancer Hospital is in middle-upper level, the level of critical thinking/research aptitude is the lowest,the factor of Core competence from low to high followed is critical thinking /research aptitude,professional development,teaching/coaching,leadership,clinical care,interper-sonal relation,legal/ethical practice.2. The factor that can influence Core competence of nurses in Cancer Hospital are educational background,Age,Self-efficacy.The Self-efficacy and the core competence of the nurses in Cancer Hospital was positive-ly correlated.The higher self-efficacy,the stronger the core compentencies.3. The Core competences of the nurses in Cancer Hospital is needed to improve furtherly, in order to meetclinical needs. Clinical competence,scientific research ability,Self-quality,interpersonal competence need tobe trained.
